Edge of Night

This painting is based off of a sunset witnessed at Secaucus Station N.J.  Edge of Night is a piece that required a great deal of planning. I spent a large amount of time merely working on the perspective. This was my first foray using such a large canvas so I had to employ new techniques to achieve my vision.   I really wanted to create a sense of the almost blindness one feels when watching a sun set. This blindness I wanted offset by having a subtly complicated forefront that would draw ones eyes deeper into the painting the longer one looked.
