This painting was inspired from my trip up to Nova Scotia.  The beautiful sunrises and sunsets and the dramatic tree-lines had me completely excited to try to capture it.  I also wanted to try doing this using a technique I created that I have dubbed my Swirly paintings.  I know this technique is a little odd so it may not appeal to everyone but I like it and I hope you do too!

I saw this little guy running around Key West and he was too good to pass up so I painted this while on Vacation poolside, canvas on my knees using a palette knife. Tons of fun!

By the way I have decided to keep him for a while in preparation for a series of paintings dedicated to the Chinese Zodiac.

I was inspired by a movie with a character named Maria in it.  The characters costumes were amazing! I actually want this piece to be viewed in a darker atmosphere so that the vibrant oranges can glow softly rather than pop off the canvas.  I will put a picture of this piece the way I want it viewed as soon as I can.
